THE NEW YORK TIMES - African Lens
We produced an award-winning feature documentary about Kenya’s first photographer for Time-Life magazine, one of the first Africans to cover his native continent for a major international publication. After Priya was killed in 1968 covering the Nigerian civil war, his work was lost—but prints turned up decades later in a Nairobi garage.
Over four years, we scanned hundreds of thousands of images, went through hundreds of hours of archival footage, and shot interviews in France, Kenya, the U.K. and the U.S. The film won Best Documentary at the Zanzibar International Film Festival, was featured in The New York Times, and screens regularly at several universities in their African Studies and Photojournalism programs.
